Please welcome the two newest members to the Glasgow Craft Mafia!

Elaine Eckford is an illustrator who handcrafts her own unique pieces, mixing old and new printing techniques, high quality papers and stitching books together using Japanese bookbinding.

Glitterysah is the alter-ego of Sarah Winstone, who designs and makes jewellery, bags, purses, belts, bows and more; using mainly recycled, reclaimed and vintage materials.

The Mafia is hitting the road again this coming Friday, 5 March. Find us (and Clyde, our horse’s head lovingly handcrafted in felt and haberdashery) at the Glasgow Hunterian Museum of Art, over at the University of Glasgow, from 11am to 3pm.

With appearances already confirmed from Asking For Trouble, Lucy Jackson Designs and Kuro-e, and more to come, this is shaping up to be a great day out.

If you haven’t been to the Hunterian Museum or Gallery before, this is an ideal time to visit. A stone’s throw from Byres Road, the gallery currently features visiting exhibitions of the Polish national collection of craftsmanship with Amber, and a look at the Italian Renaissance featuring the works of Durer.

Three new crafty folk have joined the Glasgow Craft Mafia recently so let’s say hello!

Littlecrowns are bespoke small hats and fascinators made to stand out in the crowd.

Lucy Jackson Designs makes journals, note books, jewellery and felt accessories.

Sherbet Head makes accessories and homewares.

Have a look at their pages and keep any eye out for them at our craft markets.

Bookings are now officially open for the first Glasgow Craft Mafia handmade havens of 2010. These will be taking place on the last Sunday of January and March (that’s the 31st and 28th, respectively). We’re back at our old haunt, Mono, and would love to welcome along vendors known and new to take a stall and help us showcase the best crafts and art that Glasgow (and further afield) has to offer.
